Another month

Another week and another month have blown by and I just have time for a quick post this week...
 October's pages almost complete

Feeling in an illustrative mood  - it will evolve

I've cut all my pieces for the start of my C&G quilt.

Experimenting with the print I will put on the squares - the print blocks are made from foam stuck on mount board.

I added a bit of hand painting to the print - both acrylic paint.

I have quilted this piece ready to be made into a bag. Good practise as I'm very much a novice.  I managed to resolve the problem of skipped stitches in my free motion quilting by changing to a new and thicker needle thanks to this site The Free Motion Quilting Project. Leah Day seems to have covered every aspect of quilting and is a fount of knowledge.  She is obviously a workaholic and produces an unbelievable amount of videos and information.
Off to start stitching those block now.
Keep warm and dry!!
Jill

I am determined to make some sort of quilt this winter - all the beautiful things I see on blogs along with the exhibition I went to and my friend's quilts make me want to have a go. I love your little quilted piece and must go back to that other blog for further instructions myself! Keep warm and dry - just back from Waitrose and it was pouring down but luckily stopped long enough to unload the car! Winter is here methinks!

The colours are great for your C&G quilt. I really like the piece you have done for the bag. The size of needle you need will relate to the thread you are using so you will always need to do a test piece.

When I realised it was the start of November yesterday I really did wonder where this year has gone. A comment from a friend later that they seem to go quicker now that we're a lot older did not make me feel any better! Great to see the quilt taking form Jill. I might even go at a bit of kantha after watching Linda yesterday. That is something I could do in front of the telly I think! Shall be watching the quilt grow and develop in the forthcoming weeks. Good luck with it.

Skipped stitches are my forte! Cas Holmes calls it 'sketch stitching' & I like that. I greatly admire neat even quilted stitches..... Yours look great, keep practicing!

You've been so busy! Lovely finished October pages and started November pages (I've fallen behind and I'm not sure if I'm going to finish the year. It'd be a shame but it's hard to catch up along with doing everything else).

Your quilted bag is going to be super!
