Tuesday

Time for a new post - that perm is getting on my nerves every time I log on. (See previous post - or NOT) so time to share what I have been doing.
My Art Journal gets used for more than the monthly calendar. Sometimes I keep a record of what I have been doing or thinking about - here is an October page,,,
and sometimes I record something that has more significant meaning. This Sandy Denny song always strikes a deep chord especially at this time of the year. I'll try and put a link to the song at the end of the post.
I am also working on some new patchwork, but in a slightly different way. I have made covers for some little 4"x3" blank journals I got from Staples in what I will call 'distressed' patchwork. I enjoy doing these for a change. It would be nice to find a different insert, and if I can find the time I may have a go at making some books. I thought they might make suitable  'stocking fillers'. Your thoughts would be welcome. These need finishing and when I can take some better photographs they will be in my shop.
Front cover with wrap tie
I have added appliqué and embroidery to the front panel
.
Here is a pink version

Still needs finishing off

Hopefully you can hear Sandy Denny singing 'Who Knows Where the Time Goes' with Fairport Convention here:

Wonderful song - very haunting. I don't think I've heard it before but I will certainly listen again.
Love the journal pages as always. I think the little notebooks/covers would make very pretty sticking fillers. I particularly like the delicate leaf one - such subtle and beautiful colours.

Love the sketchbook Jill and hope that you will continue to be creative with patchwork and not give up on it altogether. Sometimes it's good to take a break and maybe come back refreshed and with new ideas. Those notebook covers are really super and would certainly make good Christmas gifts (I'd love one in my stocking that's for sure!) - I also enjoy doing what you call distressed patchwork as it gives one permission to just go with the flow as it were. That song is so good and I love the way you have illustrated it. Sounds as if you are really in your stride these days with all you different creative techniques. Keep them coming!

Lovely to see your sketch book. I like the way you have put the notebook covers together, both work so well, but I'm drawn to the pink one with a heart.

Love your pastel journal pages and the book covers. This lady has a haunting voice. Was interesting in her video to see all the old photos and album covers. :)

But it was such a charming hair do Gill! 80s perms were a bit of a right of passage. I had a few legendary ones...

Jill,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for reminding me of the talented Sandy Denny. It's so long since I've heard this and I'd forgotten how beautiful and clear her voice was. I've played it twice already and have to listen again! Lesley

Lovely patchwork and embroidery on the book covers. Your journal pages just invite you to look inside and see more.
