stitched felt

I have been 'off-the-air' for a couple of days, but I have been busy, in the evenings I have managed to do a spot of needle-felting...
After I made the little ATC sized felt I wanted to work on a larger piece. Jane of janeville has been doing some wonderful free sewing which she calls 'slow cloth' and I have decided to stitch on this piece to my heart's content. I am trying to remember embroidery stitches from my school days. When I have had enough I think I can make a free-form purse with it. It will need lining as it is easy to poke a hole in the felt.
I also managed to visit the Luton Hoo Walled Garden today with my camera - it was very cold so I spent a bit of time in the glasshouse, lots of inspiration. I shall post some photos on my flickr pages and share some with you soon. But here is one to be going on with.

Volunteers were working inside the conservatory clearing it, a lot of work has been done in the garden since I was there in October. It is good that the restoration is going well, but I love the stately decay.

Hi Jill, the larger felt is lovely, especially the forest green base contrasted with the bright flowers and sweet pink hearts! Bfn, Lesley

I do like these felt pieces you are making Jill. And that photo is great taken with the twigs of the tree in front. I admire good photos.

I love both those felt pieces Jill. Can't wait to see what you make from them (if anything) I have been trying out needle felt too - it is quite addictive isn't it?

Sometimes you although you want a place to survive, you want the beauty of decay to stay too, don't you? We have an amazing cemetry in Bristol that I love, but which is undergoing work, part of me wants it left alone. (A BIG part actually!!!).

Felting is looking wonderful.......

Beautiful needlework. I have been busy blogging with the Village blog and today plan a quick post on the Three R's about crafts mainly. Had another idea of what I could do instead of a creative calendar...

Oh Jill,
The seduction of stitching into felt. I know it well. The felt offers no resistance to the needle and you just feel compelled to go on... the pieces you're producing are lovely. You have a really great eye for colour. Lesley

You're really getting into this felting and the results, I have to say, are fantastic. I must get my book out again and see what it's all about. At the moment I can't quite understand how it's all done but you are definitely getting me inspired!!

These felting pieces are just wonderful. So good, in fact, that they almost make me want to pick up a needle. GASP! ;-)
