Using gifts

First of all, thanks everyone for sharing in my 'cabin fever' as Grammy put it. Getting a few tasks finished has made me feel better, I shall be sharing my big(ger) project later after the recipient's birthday. But meanwhile here is something I have done with some of the pieces of fabric Jane sent me a few weeks ago. This is my first Art Journal, and I thought the cover needed personalizing. I made a card frame and covered it with the pretty green and yellow fabric and added a bit of decorative stitching. I used this to frame an old watercolour doodle with the title written on it placed beneath a piece of translucent green 'parchment'. I used gel medium to glue the butterfly to some paper which meant I could cut it out without fraying. I also added some glass beads before sticking it on. I may embellish it a bit more at a later date. Thanks Jane. I am also feeling better as after a high blood pressure reading by the practise nurse I had to see my GP for a check up, but all was normal - I am sure that just worrying that you have high blood pressure gives you high blood pressure!

As I opened your posy I thought to myself I recognise that fabric quite forgetting about the giveaway!! Looks good on the journal. I must admit that I haven't done anything towards the promised journal as I realise I would need paper and paints and stuff which I don't have and I haven't been to the shops this week! I might end up passing on joining you in that after all!

I know the feeling re blood pressure - my doctor in France used to insist I lay quietly for 5 minutes to relax before he took mine and of course it was 5 minutes in which to work myself up to a high reading - when I went here on our return to UK the doctor took it whilst chatting to me and what do you know it was normal!

Jill,
I'm glad you're feeling better. It's amazing how energised you can get after completing a task, no matter how big or small. After saying you didn't feel very creative I notice you've tagged your art journal 'Volume One'. That implies there's lots more to come so the creative block must be banished! Great stuff. Lesley.

Love your journal, Jill, I'm sure you'll be filling it with some great photos. Good to hear the test was normal.

This journal is full - the cat at the top is from the end - I am at least halfway through the next one!

Lovely to find your comment. When you see a journal you just want to peep inside. They are also so good to look back at.
