November all filled in. If you click on a day you can see all the details. The blank calendar is here
So here comes December...
One - gesso over two pages and then squirt on acrylic paint and spread it around.
Two - get lots of green and add layers and patches of different tones, rub them in and rub them off again.
Three - Add a bit of printing with bubble wrap and sequin waste stencil in black and red and mix it all up.
(close up) - and a bit of paper doily stencilling in blue
Four- more stamping and adding lots more textures
Five - stick on the squares and label the days of the week - cut the letters for December out of 'optic' sticky back plastic - twiddle about with gold and silver gel pens and I'm ready to go!

Oh this is wonderful, thanks so much for sharing your technique. I'm absolutely itching to have a go at this. Do you mind if I 'borrow' your idea?! I think I might set myself a 365 challenge starting in January.....
Thanks for the inspiration. I'm with you on vacuuming the stairs by the way.....(we like to read the smallprint....)
"Thea Gilmore's solicitors will be in touch with you in the morning."... ha! ha! Fascinating reading. It will be a lovely thing to look back on. Thanks for sharing.
I love your calendar. It looks like such fun. I can relate to the house work day. lol. Have a great week.
I love the calendar. Thanks so much for sharing the 'how to' also. I also feel inspired to have a go: it's a much better way of keeping track than a simple diary with ugly letters.
Aren't you having fun with your sketchbook?
Just as it should be! Love your calendar, teaching can get in the way of making art, especially when an idea crops up and there is no time to explore it...students come first, only fifteen years to my retirement!

Love your calendar - want to try it myself! By the way I did e-mail you to ask you for your postal address but you may not recognise the e-mail as coming from me! Do let me know where you live so I can post your giveaway to you either by writing to me on the e-mail address on my profile or replying to my e-mail. If you have a preference for the colour of your little heart let me know that too.

That's lovely, great idea!
Have fun with it! :)
So much fun, both the green and the final calendar. Have fun with that. Thanks for sharing the technique.
how much fun it must be to look at those blank squares and wonder what you'll put there. you could call it the opposite of an advent calendar - instead of lifting the flap to see what's there, you get to fill it in yourself!
What a great idea!...and you make it look so easy to do! This would also be a good background to mount "inchies" onto.
And whilst I am here, I want to thank you for drawing my name out as one of the winners of your recent give-away...I have them now and I love them all!
I love your calendar too, and intend trying it for myself. Is Gesso absolutely necessary, and what sort of paper is in the journal... is it just an ordinary journal? If you want to reply via email... maggiegray59@yahoo.com ... thanks.
Hi ! Great work and tutorial and thank you for sharing!! Very inspiring!!
Love it, am going to try one myself!
I really like this - I have a journal that I can't use for what I usually do, but this might work! Will get on it for January!
Jill is it an A4 journal you use for the diary and what size are your paper squares please.
You can e-mail me on patriciacrafts@fsmail.net.
I have started a double page in my A4 Moleskine but to fit 31 squares on a double spread they need to be very small eg.1"
