Sunday

I have posted these photographs before,  right at the beginning of my blog adventures when I was logging my progress in my photography course. Clare mentions that the scenery is reminiscent of Tuscany, and I have to agree - I think it is the row of poplar trees and high view point, but it is definitely south Bedfordshire. Here is the same scene taken at each season.

I drove right through the middle of this scene today on my way to see friends. I always love it how ever many times I pass through. It was very misty this morning and I wished I had my camera with me.

I have also had a go at making a book from all the papers I have created during my sketchbook course. This is the chaos that is my desk, sometimes I wonder how I manage to get anything done!

I printed paper for the front and back covers with the linocut inspired by the scene above.

It has five signatures stitched into a card spine.  The stitching is a bit wonky despite my careful measuring, I guess more practice would help, but it is not the sort of thing you make every week.

I'm not sure how I am going to use it yet, but I keep having to give it a bit of a stroke, how sad is that?

I have nearly finished the Creative Sketchbook course and I have got a lot from it - what next?
Watch this space

Have a good week.
Jill

  4. Not sad at all - I'd be stroking it too if I could! I love the 4 season landscape photos - they'd look brilliant framed and on the wall.

  5. Me too if I had made something so lovely! I adore the cat on the inside of the cover - is it Marvin? That scene taken in different seasons is beautiful - I don't know Bedfordshire although my husband's family are all from there originally and I have a cousin living there but I don't think I have ever been there - put it on the list eh?!

  10. Lovely 4 seasons pics, you could go on & on.

Stroke? I'd be more likely to hug it to pieces! My studio is still full of seperate pieces ;)

Meant to say how I love your 'less than' pages, below. Maybe you'll one day be published like David Hockney!

  11. Nothing wrong with stroking that book Jill. I know the feeling well! When you've made something tactile and with a lot of yourself poured into it there is just a compulsion to keep picking it up. Nothing wrong with that stitching either - it's a unique object after all. I love those photos of the same view at different times of the year. I'm drawing lots of landscapes at the moment, something I'm not a fan of in all honesty but the shapes and tones in these photos make me think twice. I love looking at them but prefer a photo to a painting . Maybe your photos will inpsire me to pick up the brush!

  12. It's a lovely book Jill and I would be stroking it too! All your work is lovely, it has really inspired me to do the Kemshalls' course, wish I had chosen that instead of the OCA Textiles one which is very hard-going! Keep up the good work!
